Not surprisingly, the name Salzkammergut contains the German word – gut, or good, because things are simply good in this amazingly beautiful region.

Majestic mountains form an impressive backdrop for the many leisure and sport activities available in the Salzkammergut region, including skiing, golfing, and bobsledding – and of course hiking! The Salzkammergut region provides magnificent hiking trails for the casual hiker or the more experienced mountain climbers. The Salzkammergut region is the perfect excursion spot for families and sports enthusiasts alike.

Thanks to its unspoiled nature and traditions, parts of the Salzkammergut region have been declared World Cultural Heritage sites by UNESCO.

The village of Hallstatt is one such example, and it is not surprising that people have been living here from the earliest of times.

The water quality is also exceptional in the lakes of the Salzkammergut region. In fact, you can even drink from them, though it is much more enjoyable to swim, sail or to bathe on the beaches.

The lakes at Mondsee, Wolfgangsee, Irrsee, Fuschlsee or Attersee are small miracles of nature that invite guests for sports or to just relax.
