The Salzburg region is rich in lakes, mountains and natural beauty. Particularly imposing is the Untersberg Mountain which invites visitors to come and explore it, especially in the summertime.

For those who want to take it easy, ascend the mountain via the cable car. If you are an experienced hiker, then you can reach the summit along one of several paths. From Grödig-Fürstenberg you can take Trail 461 via the Schweigmühlenalm and the Großer Eiskeller to the Mittagsscharte, or directly to the summit of the Salzburger Hochthron. From Grödig-Glanegg, Trail 417 takes you to the summit via the Geiereck, and Trail 460 leads past the Zeppezauerhaus at 1,668 meters.

Atop the Untersberg are numerous hiking and walking trails for those who rode up on the cable car.

Down below in the valley are approximately 160 km of magnificent walking trails through the Alpine scenery, a portion of which pass directly through the village of Grödig. Families will find the sections along the foot of the Untersberg Mountain particularly well suited for children. Along the way, many old-style country inns offer an inviting place to take a short break. The mountain hiking school, Salzburg Alpin, is a helpful partner for hikers, and the Tourist Information Center in Grödig will gladly assist with maps and valuable suggestions.
